Music Ministry

Music Director Job Description  Music Director Job Description
“O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvelous things.”  Psalm 98:1

SCHOOL OF THE ARTS - COMING SOON: This fall, Morrow Memorial UMC will begin a new area of ministry by opening a School of the Arts. This school would have a very similar relationship to the church that the pre-school has. Starting with a concentration on music, cultivation of other areas of the arts would be accessed as the school develops. Initially, we would offer private lessons and a regional choir program that would include classes in musicianship. It is our hope that we can partner with the area school systems, which have not been able to maintain music programs as they have in the past. In an artistic, nurturing environment, we can provide excellent musical instruction thus educating, strengthening and enriching the intellectual, spiritual and emotional person; identifying meaningful ways to reach the underserved; and sharing with the community.  If you are interested in taking lessons or if you are an experienced teacher in the areas of instrumental, voice, art, dance or drama, please contact Pastor Bobbie.

Mission

We believe that Morrow's music program is a ministry. It ministers to individuals, while nurturing our spiritual and musical growth as a congregation. Our various musical organizations are spiritual doorways that lead people to active participation in our congregation.

Every member and interested newcomer is encouraged to join our Music Ministry, wherever his or her talent and interest lie. Participation in any of the programs is an excellent way to join in fellowship with others, to discover anew the talents with which the Lord has blessed us, and to sing praises to our Savior.

Music Program

Morrow's music program includes three children's choirs; Youth Praise Choir and Chancel Choir for adults; four handbell choirs; Intergenerational Orchestra; plus additional vocal and instrumental soloists and ensembles that enrich our worship service to the glory of God.

These groups present a varied repertoire of church music - from traditional to contemporary, folk to gospel - which allows us to enjoy a wide range of music by many different composers and arrangers. Auditions are not required for participation in Morrow's music program. So if you want to make joyful noise unto the Lord, let us know about your talents and interests. You can email us at opendoors@morrowmem.org t
or call the music office at 973.763.7676 ext. 27.
