The goal of the Turnover Sale is to raise money for mission projects, and to do this we transform two floors of the church into a full-fledged department store. In the process, we share a great time of camaraderie, fellowship, outreach, and fun.
The wonder of it all is the wide variety of items found in this "store." This wonder and variety also extends to the workers, who so graciously give of their time and expertise to help at the sale. Many are not Morrow Church members, but they are most definitely Turnover Sale members, for they are faithful to their summer job year after year. We count on their help, and they, in turn, count on the sale to provide them with the fellowship of people working together for a common, good cause.
Our 75 years in business built a fine reputation and clientele, which is as varied as our merchandise. On Opening Day, the waiting lines often reach to Maplewood Avenue and beyond! Our customers come from towns near and many towns and states afar, including New York and Pennsylvania. Special relationships develop between sales people and customers. We may not see a customer for a year, but in July we fully expect to renew the friendship that has grown through the years.
The workers find it a blessing to help others, and to provide shoppers with the joy of buying items they might not find elsewhere or otherwise could not afford. This sale is truly a community event, evidenced not only by the workers and customers, but also by the donated items which are the base of the sales’ success. Community members have said that they plan their house cleaning around the Morrow sale. While we workers sometimes raise our eyes to the sky when we see the volume of items we receive, deep in our hearts we are grateful to a community that so generously allows us to stock our tables and raise money for others.
